NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
AREA I: All Excepted Technicians of the 177th Fighter Wing (FW)
AREA II: All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)
AREA III: All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership
If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJARNG
If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

Any SSgt who is selected for this position will not be given a start date until they are promoted to TSgt.
APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:
Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered. Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank. If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion. Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only. Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

- Must be willing to become a member of the New Jersey Air National Guard.
The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position: A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.
DUTIES: Directs the installation, testing, evaluation, modification, maintenance, and reporting of the full range of Communications-Electronic (C-E) equipment and systems assigned. Plan, develops and implements local maintenance policies, and goals for effective administration, direction, management, and operations of all squadron flights. Ensures the proper use, management, and training of all personnel consisting of multiple technical disciplines within the flight. Interviews and recommends selection of new employees. Provides training and orientation. Provides technical assistance to organizations/units in establishing digital communications requirements. Prepares and submits budget estimates and revisions for the procurement, installation, and maintenance of equipment and supply items. Ensures formulation of comprehensive training plans for each function and specialty within the flight. Exercises continuing responsibility for safety conditions procedures, and working practices employed within the maintenance community. As a working supervisor, works along side subordinates performing the non-supervisory work of the flight.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidates ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
