Vertical Marketing Manager at Basking Ridge


Responsibilities

The Vertical Marketing Manager will be accountable for driving both solutions sales as well as horizontal offerings to transform market awareness of Verizon as a technology leader and innovator. This position is charged with developing the Vertical Strategy for Verizon Enterprise Solutions. The primary objective is to drive double digits YOY growth of Vertical Revenues and sales with a targeted focus in strategic services. The incumbent will use business analytics, industry and competitive insights to develop a differentiation point for Verizon to drive Vertical sales. This may be achieved through Vertical specific Solutions or by leveraging Horizontal assets.

The incumbent will manage a team of Vertical Managers who are expected to collaborate with Vertical and Regional Sales leadership as well as Product, Solution and Field Marketing teams to build and lead a sales enablement program to achieve year over year sales growth targets.

The incumbent must be able to understand and effectively articulate the interconnections of a vertical marketing practice and must be able to develop an understanding of the Healthcare, Finance and Energy and utilities verticals as the primary focus. This is a highly visible role that includes both internal and external presentations, strategizing with key business leaders and technology partners, and frequent interactions with senior executives within Verizon Marketing and Sales organizations.

Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and own an integrated marketing program for the verticals supporting sales. Ensure marketing plans are developed addressing key customer segments within the larger business customer segment.
  • Develop & maintain market segment business plans. Direct market research projects to gather customer insights to identify customer needs. Evaluate segment and industry trends, competitive analysis. Analyze market segment KPIs (subscribers, revenue, penetration) and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide direction to Training, Sales Operations, Go-to-Market, Marketing Communications, and Solution Development on marketing and sales material/tools needed in order to target the market segments. Provide guidance on positioning & communication strategies for market segments.
  • Be the field-facing 'evangelist' for the vertical practice strategies utilizing all communications tools and resources available within Verizon. Provide guidance and direction based upon sales successes as well as evolving market trends and dynamics.
  • Collaborate with Sales to measure attainment of goals and collaborate with the team to take risks, fail, and fix through a coordinated feedback loop. Identify new product/service/program opportunities
  • Identify key distribution channels and partners.
  • Write Concept Papers for new market segment opportunities in order to get new initiatives approved and prioritized. Identify opportunities, customer insights & requirements, Market sizing, high level business case, GTM plans and interface with various cross functional teams to get input into concept planning.
  • Assist Product Marketing Manager with product-specific Proposition Plan, providing input to shape requirements and with product-specific GTM strategies. Act as overall subject matter expert and evangelist for market segments. Provide market segment input to various cross-functional teams throughout Verizon.
  • Represent the Marketing organization and manage internal partnerships on all matters involving vertical marketing with the following constituencies: PR and AR: To maximize the impact of external messaging around key launches and activities, including social media strategies

    Government Affairs: Maintain alignment of sales leaders and solutions practice with current legislative efforts in support innovative technology programs and compliance initiatives (e . g . HIPAA regulations). Key technology and thought leadership partners: Maintain strong relationships to ximize joint marketing and messaging opportunities to raise visibility and recognition of Verizon’s vertical practice.
  • Accountable and final reviewer of all marketing materials and content to ensure that the message and material is in alignment with the current direction of the practice and Verizon.
    • Provide direction and guidance to the Marketing Communications (“MarCom”) and Agency resources supporting verticals to maintain a highly visible internal and external voice to support sales efforts.
    • Prioritize and align activities on a quarterly calendar to ensure timely, compelling and relevant messaging via all communications tools, including print and web assets.


    11. Actively develop and provide input to shape the agenda and content for the annual Customer Advisory Board (“CABs”) Meeting to inform Verizon’s long-term Healthcare investment strategy.

    12. Prioritize and lead selected event and trade show opportunities. Define the targets and objectives for each event to ensure that a positive ROI can be achieved through our participation. Occasionally attend & present at them.

    Experience:
    • 5-7 years’ experience in marketing, product marketing, and/or consulting within a high-tech environment
    • Experience leading market segment strategy and execution.
    • Experience defining business benefit to technology solutions.
    • Persuasive written and verbal communicator.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
    • Excellent time management, organizational and leadership skills.
    • Able to set priorities effectively.
