Operating Engineer at Plainsboro

Job Description

OVERVIEW

This position has a strong focus on maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing infrastructure equipment and systems. This is a “hands on” position. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a high degree of technical expertise in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and troubleshooting. The Operating Engineer will also be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all equipment, physical structures, piping, and life safety.  The successful candidate must be available for call-in work and perform other duties as required.

Position requires that the individual be a self-starter, problem solver and interact well with all levels of employees and with all levels of building occupants.  Position involves complex HVAC and building system troubleshooting and maintenance as well as general maintenance tasks.

The standard hours for this position are Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., must be willing to be on call as needed

 Have advance knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical distribution, and life safety.
 

Have advanced knowledge of the operation and repair of all types of heating and ventilation systems.
 

Must be able to troubleshoot refrigeration systems, change out compressors and troubleshoot refrigeration controls.

Provide technical support and leadership to the properties.

 

 Assist in administering the Operations Audit under the direction of Chief Engineer / Account Manager.

Has a strong safety awareness, which is demonstrated in actions and results.

Job Requirements


  High school diploma or equivalent.

Lab or manufacturing experience preferred.

5 years minimum working experience


Trade School or apprentice program completion.


Universal CFC Refrigeration Certification.

 

  Black Seal low pressure boiler operator license

 

White seal (high pressure)boiler operator special license (or within 90 days of employment)

Ability to work at heights, work in changing temperatures, and lift move and/or carry heavy (up to 50 pounds) objects


Ability to analyze the operation of the various systems, determine the cause of any problem/ malfunctions and corrective action


Ability to immediately recognize system shortcomings and respond to operational and emergency situations


Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)


Excellent interpersonal skills

 

Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
