Engr Env Science at Mount Laurel

Primary Role: Carries out the day to day management of multiple research projects that involve novel approaches and demand a high level of skill, experience and technical knowledge to support corporate subsidiaries. Provides technical support on all aspects of the life cycle of pipes including knowledge of asset management practices, water distribution system materials, condition assessment approaches and pipe renewal options

Management and analysis of water distribution infrastructure research projects and related research projects. The scope of projects involve novel approaches that demand a high level of skill, experience, and technical knowledge to apply for grants and build research teams.

Establish project and program budgets, maintain project cost control, assesses financial impact of project results to water companies. Evaluates operations based on project results and recommends appropriate changes, where necessary. Prepares draft practice documents as needed. Demonstrates strong project management, planning, and financial management skills.

Translates technical information and major findings of research projects into clear, comprehensive written research summaries and reports. Prepares publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals and presentations in national and local conferences. Identify opportunities where new technologies and approaches can be used to further business opportunities. Respond to inquiries from the business regarding new issues and products.

Prepares research/business development proposals on broad-based assignments related to water distribution system, non revenue water, system monitoring with an eye towards new approaches and piloting of new methods. Keeps abreast of new scientific methods and developments and assists with this information in designated field of specialty to engineering, innovation and research,

Provides technical support to company operations for cost effective solutions to resolve operational, process, and customer service issues and encourage best practice and innovation throughout all operational areas. Assist companies in development of infrastructure and renewal pilot and other testing programs.

Assists in pre-qualification and selection of outside consultants for research or capital projects using negotiation and/or competitive selection processes, where necessary. Evaluation of economic and regulatory business drivers, external research and technologies and competitor behaviors worldwide. Challenge the business to develop cost effective solutions to meet operations, process and customer service responsibilities and encourage best practice and innovation throughout all operational areas.

Advanced knowledge of distribution system monitoring, hydraulics and pipe materials is required. Thorough knowledge of water quality and environmental regulations affecting the business. Must have strong familiarity with various water treatment technologies and instrumentation used in the business. Ability to analyze complex situations and propose viable solutions.

Four (4) years experience in infrastructure and hydraulic research and strong knowledge of water system operations. Clear evidence of research skills through publications and presentations.
