Position Summary:
Provides on-site job assessment, skills training, and job coaching to persons served within the Bancroft organization and employed at host organizations to maintain and enhance community-based employment.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED POPULATION.
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Conducts job assessments on an ongoing basis with assigned persons served to identify individual job preferences, interests, abilities, and satisfaction.
2. Provides individuals with on-the-job coaching and skills training throughout the course of employment; e.g., explaining employer organizations policies and procedures, providing training on daily work activities and processes, providing orientation regarding job structure and managements performance expectations, reorienting persons served to job and management changes, providing instruction regarding proper utilization of equipment, explaining appropriate personal appearance and attire at job site, etc.
3. Monitors ongoing progress of persons served regarding goals, skill building, and job objectives; provides input to Employment Specialist and Program Manager to ensure proper job placement, determine satisfaction of persons served and their employers, identify further training needs, develop and implement action plans, etc.
4. Actively participates in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) process in conjunction with the IPP and, with the IDT, determines the best timing for effective transition to independent employment for persons served.
5. Facilitates the social integration of persons served into the existing employer job site. Strives to build and maintain effective on-the-job work relationships by encouraging interaction among coworkers, creating and conducting role playing sessions, identifying and sharing commonalities between persons served and coworkers, etc., and by promoting a level of comfort and acceptance in the workplace.
6. Assesses the need for, and recommends sensitivity training at employer job sites to Program Manager. Provides sensitivity training and support to employers and coworkers when the need is identified or when specifically requested by employer.
7. Provides safety instruction to persons served in the workplace and within the community to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
8. With Program Manager, provides ongoing consultation to employers regarding special accommodation needs of persons served. Follows ups and ensures that the needs of persons served are met in a timely manner.
9. May act as primary liaison to host companies and serves as business manager for Bancroft internal/entrepreneurial businesses in which persons served are employed; e.g., BOSS in-house printing operation, Cutting Edge cleaning crew, etc., in accordance with Transitional Support policies and procedures. Facilities daily business operations and activities, orders and purchases supplies, monitors expenses, maintains adequate inventory levels, reconciles business accounts, completes and submits timesheets for employees, conducts work time studies (where applicable), ensures quality assurance of end product. Provides ongoing performance feedback and training to employed persons served, conducts annual performance appraisals, identifies training needs, etc.
10. Maintains all levels of supervision for assigned persons served at specific Program site as outlined in the IPP (Individual Program Plan), Annex A and/or program descriptions. Follows established Bancroft policies and procedures and maintains compliance with Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) Supported Employment/Day Program (SE/DP) Manual standards, applicable state/local/federal regulations, Department of Labor (DOL) regulations, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards at all times.
11. Complies with the IPP as detailed for assigned persons served and supports the development of goals as determined by employer. Provides goal training and instruction, and assists each person in the achievement of goals while actively encouraging individual independence within ability limits while following standard interaction protocol or individual behavior plan.
12. Ensures Program site and employers job site operates in accordance with the organizations quality standards for safety, security, cleanliness, and comfort and state licensing and accreditation standards.
13. Aids in the resolution of problematic situations that may occur for persons served within a specific Program or job site. Exercises appropriate judgment in addressing specific situations.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required with additional education in a related field desirable. BA in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Related work experience in employment services preferred. Minimum of two years of experience working directly with neurologically-challenged individuals required.
Special Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form required. Basic math skills required. Effective interpersonal skills, a strong desire to work with neurologically-challenged individuals required, and the ability to implement crisis intervention techniques required. Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills required with the ability to operate independently and autonomously. Operative knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel spreadsheets preferred. Attainment of First Aid, Crisis Prevention and Intervention, and Medication certification within first 90 days of employment required. Successful attainment of formalized training in job coaching required within 120 days of employment. Valid drivers license required in incumbents legal name and current address with no provisional restrictions; must have immediate access to reliable personal transportation to both visit and accompany persons served to job sites. Minimum 18 years of age required.
