NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

AREA II: All Members of the NJNG
AREA III: All personnel eligible for membership in the NJARNG
If a New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJARNG, and may be required to attend U.S. Army Basic Training. Applicant may contact an Army National Guard Recruiter.
If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered. Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank. If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion. Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only. Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

- KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing to become a member of the New Jersey Army National Guard.

- Must provide Record Review Report (RIP) or Personnel Qualifications Report.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Under 5 USC 2108 & 5CFR 211, Veterans Preference criteria does not apply.
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is not authorized.

DUTIES: Develops, modifies and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Serves as a technical focal point for the installation and configuration of hardware and software on personal computers and for personal data assistants associated with assigned systems. Serves as a systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting in order to meet customer needs. Serves as a technical focal point on multiple operating systems and computer platforms. Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends hardware/software changes to various computer systems.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months of experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization.
KNOWLEDGE of a variety of operating systems (ex. Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Unix etc.) on desktop and server.
KNOWLEDGE of the principles and methods used for planning and managing the implementation, update, and integration of information system components.
SKILL in troubleshooting problems and implementing changes on multifaceted and interdependent computer platforms.
ABILITY to lead team members assigned to one or more locations in the state.
KNOWLEDGE of project management techniques and tools sufficient to provide technical guidance on the implementation of emerging technologies.
SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A PHD or equivalent, or 3 years of progressigely higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Major study computer science, information research, information systems management mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.

Applicant must provide documentation of possession of a Secret Clearance.
