Job Description
Job Purpose:The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to the accounting function and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities and is responsible for developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information.
The Accounting Manager is also expected to make recommendations to the VP-Finance for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Accounting Manager supervises a staff of two.
This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting.
Job Duties:
• Responsible for overall accounting process, including monthly close, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections, balance sheet analyses/reconciliations, variance analysis, etc.
• Responsible for overall financial reporting process, including multi-company financial reporting.
• Responsible for adherence to state registration requirements and state/local sales tax compliance.
• Maintains accounting controls by managing chart of accounts and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
• Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
• Protects organizations value by keeping information confidential.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Job Requirements
Education/Qualifications:
• Demonstrate working knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon / Great Plains) product.
• BS in Accounting/Finance, CPA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience
• Must be detail oriented with excellent communications, interpersonal and oral/written presentation skills.
• Must be able to manage time effectively and work independently.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Professional services industry experience preferred.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel or other comparable spreadsheet tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
