Statistical Tools Programmer at Franklin Lakes

Job Description

The newly created Statistical Tools group focuses on automating analyses to increase efficiency, statistical sophistication, and output quality. The tools group operates within Corporate Statistics and Data Management, or CSDM. The tools group supports clients from within the CSDM as well as R&D, Quality, Marketing, and Manufacturing.The primary emphasis of the position will be on developing and configuring software applications for data analyses and data visualization. The role will include interacting with IT as well as taking the lead for server/software configuration. Sensing and evaluating new technologies will be an important part of this role, as well as providing guidance on tool delivery options. Bringing the full CSDM up to best practices for reproducible research will be a significant initial project. Some programming to support CSDM projects is expected.

Skills

Demonstrates competence and technical leadership in advanced programming techniques

Fluency in one or moreprogramming language, general programming languages, such as C++ or Java

Fluency in at least one statistical programming language, such as R or SAS, preferred

Mathematical or scientific computing languages, such as MatLab, Numpy, or Scipy

Scripting languages, such as Python or Ruby

Specialized programming languages, such as Visual Basic or PL/SQL

Ability to program in a variety of platforms, such as databases, web applications, servers, or mobile devices

Can develop software applications in Windows and Linux environments

Knowledge in applied statistics, with an emphasis on modeling and data visualization preferred

Ability to document and validate software code

Ability to create complex, coherent, professional user requirements and training material.

Strong interpersonal skills, specifically cross functional collaboration, listening and negotiation skills

Demonstrated ability to develop self and others through continuous learning and training

Expert ability to identify and develop software based process improvements tailored to the clients needs

Familiarity with client-server interactions

Knowledge and experience working in a reproducible research environment preferred

Education

Bachelors degree

Experience

8+ years of experience of relevant experience with a related Bachelors degree or 5+ years of experience with a related Masters degree Demonstrated expertise in developing specialized software tools for a broad range of clients and platforms Experience with software/tool validation
