Director of Admissions at Maywood

Job Description

Maywood Center for Health and Rehab is a beautiful 120 bed sub acutecenter with rehab therapy 7 days a week. We are currently recruiting fora Directorof Admissions.In this role you will be responsible for all marketing and admissions activity. To be successful you will have great communication skills and have the ability to interface with referral sources, residents, families, staff, physicians, vendors, hospitals, and administration on a professional level. You will have the skills and experiencebe be very well spoken, outgoing, and have the ability to make others feel comfortable.

TITLE: Director of Marketing/Admissions

MAJOR PURPOSE: Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of health care marketing and community resources, management of admissions process including Title 19 applications and third party reimbursement.

TITLE OF SUPERVISOR: Administrator

TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUBORDINATES: Admissions/Marketing Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Business Administration degree and/or 3-5 years directly related health care experience.
2. Can communicate both verbally and in writing.
3. Must have excellent presentation and organizational skills.
4. Knowledge of closing a sales agreement.
5. Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and facility staff in the performance of duties.
6. Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing the admission process within a nursing facility.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Can move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required -- bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and
reaching above the shoulders are involved.
2. Can cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position.
3. Can see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
4. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies.
5. Must be in good health and display emotional stability.
6. Can relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
7. Must have finger, hand, leg, and arm dexterity (one leg/foot prosthesis acceptable).



PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

1. Identify and develop potential referral sources.
2. Increase referral sources.
3. Maximize the census through effective marketing.
4. Generate public relations and marketing opportunities.
5. Receive incoming referrals from hospitals, community agencies, and families.

a. Note demographic and financial information on admission application.
b. Arrange for medical information to be received, both initial nursing report and required written paperwork.
c. Follow-up on financial information so that source of payment is clear and areas requiring further work (e.g., pending Title 19 application, applied income) are noted.
6. Coordinate Admission meetings each day with appropriate team to speed up the process.
7. Without the Admissions/Marketing Coordinator, speak and/or meet with families about specifics of admission requirements and placement procedures.

a. Before admission.
b. At time of admission:
1. Sign paperwork with families or residents.
2. Include financial counseling, with Medicaid guidelines in mind.
3. Include making application for Medicaid when appropriate.
c. After admission, additional financial counseling as needed.
d. Follow through on all applications.

8. Provide information on the census and projected admissions and discharges as requested by administration.
9. Supervise record keeping of the department.
10. Supervise the readmission process.
11. Attend administrative staff meetings, inservices, and appropriate professional meetings and workshops.
12. Provide supervision to the admissions/marketing coordinator and assume the duties of the position upon absence.
13. Contact area hospitals, community agencies and groups to promote and maintain good working relationships.
14. Arrange and coordinate visits from area hospitals and agency staff.
15. Re-direct applied income checks.

EXPECTATIONS:

1. Attend mandatory inservices held at the facility.
2. Understands responsibility concerning infection control, safety, accident and fire prevention.
3. Discuss any problems, needs or concerns that arise with the Administrator.
4. Understands and upholds the Residents Bill of Rights and holds all resident information confidential.
