CGL Transport (CGLT) helps corporations to streamline their chemical supply and distribution networks. CGLT offers full truckload (FTL), heavy less-than-load (LTL), and ISO tanker transportation. CGLT also specializes in temperature-controlled and hazardous materials transportation.
CGLT brings to the table substantial regulatory expertise with regard to the transportation and handling of chemicals and gases. It processes, systems and assets are customized for chemical and gas management. CGLTs transportation management system (TMS) offers secure, online shipment tracking, reporting and management capabilities to its customers.
Position Description:
Please note: This requisition is to gage internal / external interest in a possible future CGL Transport opening.
Summary:
Drives gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver products, or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Drives trucks, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products and materials to destination.
Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting hazardous materials or other goods.
Safely operates material handling equipment, including but not limited to: fork trucks, pallet jacks, drum grabbers, etc.
Follow traffic laws and other laws, regulations and requirements; including OSHA, DOT, RCRA, etc.
Inspects vehicles for defects before and after trips to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment are in good working order and submits report indicating vehicle condition.
Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
Obtains receipts or signatures for delivered goods.
Ensures timely and accurate paperwork flow.
Assists warehouse workers in loading and unloading truck according to company JBDs, SOPs, work instructions, laws and regulations.
Read bills of lading, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine assignment details; items to be loaded and/or unloaded.
Counts and inventories items to ensure loaded and/or unloaded are accurate according to bills of lading.
Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
Pick-up and inventory returnable (empty) containers from customer sites.
Maintain bills of lading for DOT compliance and record retention.
Properly placards per DOT regulation.
Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly warehouse environment; including reporting any safety concerns, people who do not appear to belong or items that are out of order or concerning.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from crew and checking that the vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Chocks trucks upon docking.
Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders or covers.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicles.
Pull customer orders. Documents orders. Checks orders for accuracy and requests adjustments through CSR, if needed.
Document all transfers.
Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma; and 2 to 3 years related experience and/or training.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, People Net Contact Management systems, GPS systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Maintain valid Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat Endorsement within company insurance requirements.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must successfully complete and maintain required DOT physical and all other regulatory requirements.
Must successfully complete and maintain company required and regulatory training.
Other Qualifications:
Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time.
