The General Engineer position is located within the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Support Equipment & Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (SE & ALRE) Department, Advanced Technology Projects Branch (Code 4.8.1.4), Lakehurst, NJ. The selectee for this position will be a part of the Division performing systems engineering management, planning, and engineering analysis. This includes the requirements analysis for Aircraft Platform Interface (API) systems and their operations, performance, availability, human factors, safety, and specifications for the development of (1) aircraft Support Equipment (SE) and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE), (2) the integration of aircraft and ship systems, and (3) the development of enabling technologies. The Advanced Technology Projects Branch executes research and technology development programs supporting the 4.8 product line. This is accomplished through Science & Technology (S&T) proposal development matched to funding venues, the conduct of basic and applied or transition research in technologies with Support Equipment (SE)/Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) application potential, technology development support to existing Support Equipment (SE)/Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) acquisition programs, system engineering process management for acquisition programs up to Milestone B, department laboratory assessments, and department Information Assurance and Integrated Support Environment lead responsibilities.

· Serve as Science and Technology (S&T) Principal Investigator advancing state-of-the-art technologies for insertion into Support Equipment (SE) and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) systems.
· Serve as Technical Lead and Point of Contact for various S&T Initiatives including Office of Naval Research (ONR) Sea Based Aviation Future Naval Capabilities (FNC), Office of Naval Research (ONR) TechSolutions and Technology Insertion Program for Savings (TIPS), Naval Innovative Science and Engineering (NISE) Basic & Applied Research, Technology Transition, Workforce Development; Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR), DOD Defense Acquisition Challenge (DAC) and Technology Transition Initiatives (TTI).
· Responsible for all research and system engineering aspects including requirements development, technical planning, technology maturation, coordination, testing, delivery support and planning and execution of required Science & Technology (S&T) Panels, Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) and Risk Management Boards.
· Serve as technical expert in electrical, electronic and/or, mechanical fields as appropriate to Science & Technology (S&T) maturation of assigned Support Equipment/Aircraft Launch Recovery and Equipment (SE/ALRE) systems and department core capability technologies. Technology areas include Semi-Autonomous Systems, Prognostics & Health Management, Control theory, Cameras & Displays and Machine Vision and other technologies as assigned.

Department and Program team at high-level conference (e.g. sponsor, prime contractor, DOD-
wide, Industry-wide conferences) providing briefings, technical advice, information and
counsel on cognizant Science & Technology (S&T) programs.

Specialized experience must demonstrate performing work such as: 1) Assessing the feasibility of proposed improvements utilizing advanced knowledge of Support Equipment/Aircraft Launch and Recovery (SE/ALRE) systems (i.e., Advanced Arresting Gear, Autonomous Systems, interfacing systems and/or technologies, etc.) to accomplish program mission; 2) Apply scientific methods to perform Science & Technology (S&T) research efforts (Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Naval Innovative Science and Engineering (NISE)) including exploring and defining problem(s), planning approach for study, analyzing data, interpreting results, and document or report findings; 3) Apply systems engineering principles for Support Equipment (SE) and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) product development to ensure product is producible, operable, supportable, satisfy mission requirements, and meet cost and schedule constraints.

REQUIREMENTS:
