Technical Project Manager

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work with customers to understand the business requirements and translate the requirements into technical/functional specifications for the engineers.
  • Dealing with ambiguity to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.
  • Ensure success in building and transforming web applications, retail systems software and services on to the Amazon systems.
Drive data related initiatives to improve the customer experience on the site through Personalization, Segmentation and Analytics.
  • Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the Amazon prod environment.
  • Leverage your learning from deep technical contributions and evangelize the same across a broader group of engineers across all subsidiaries.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and engineering teams

Excellent problem-solving skills
Experience building processes, project management, and release schedules
Experience with agile or other program management methodologies
5+ years of relevant work experience in internet-related program and/or technical product management in a software applications environment.
Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units. Excellent team player.
High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
Strong written communication skills; this role will require the creation of content such as whitepapers and other written deliverables
Technical degree required; Computer Science or Math background highly desired.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
Experience driving cross functional initiatives.
Track record of software projects delivery.

Product development experience (including C++, Java, XML, messaging protocols, and Web Services)
A strong understanding of core web technologies: HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript and AJAX.
Professional experience working in large and deeply transformative projects
Mandarin Chinese reading and listening skills preferred, but not required.
