Engineering/Maintenance Manager at Princeton

Job Description

  Job Summary

 

This position is responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of all plant equipment with an emphasis on controls, instrumentation and automation.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Troubleshoot PLC issues with Allen Bradley RS500 and RS5000
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, ladder logic and P&ID
  • Troubleshoot motor control problems, both standard control and VFD control
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate; flow meters, mag meters, temperature controllers, level and pressure transmitters, I/P, RTD, Thermocouples and chart recorders
  • Maintain small character and large character coder systems (i.e. video jet)
  • Develop print templates and maintain print databases
  • Ensures that all production equipment is maintained and repaired in a manner which meets company standards and minimizes downtime.
  • Assesses, develops and prioritizes the scope of projects; assigns department personnel accordingly.
  • Solicits and reviews bids and quotes from vendors; selects and manages vendor work.
  • Prepares requisitions for parts and supplies for maintenance department.
  • Coordinates with production supervisors the scheduling of repair and maintenance work.
  • Works closely with Maintenance Planner in developing and scheduling preventative maintenance.
  • May assist in repair and maintenance activities.
  • Addresses personnel issues in a timely manner and involves Human Resources as needed.
  • Processes all injury reports and corrects any unsafe work conditions as soon as possible.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area that promotes safety and efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable quality system standards and the unit’s food safety and security programs in support of essential manufacturing strategies and practices.
  • Serves as Alternate to Director of Maintenance

Job Requirements

  Job Requirements:

 

  • 5-7 years supervisory experience in similar environment (food manufacturing) managing multi-craft maintenance personnel. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering preferred but knowledge and experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Must be a hands on type of manager for training, coaching and trouble shooting
  • Experienced with different levels of networking and communication with Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Processors, HMI and PCs and various levels of communication protocols
  • Strong PLC trouble shooting skills with Allen Bradley RS500 and RS5000
  • Strong Electrical trouble shooting skills in manufacturing environment, able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, ladder logic and P&ID
  • Basic PC skills with spreadsheet and word-processing software preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and programming repairs required.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees in the work environment.
  • Individual is detail oriented and organized; able to manage multiple projects concurrently, set priorities and follow through.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of NEC and NFPA 70E Code
  • Familiarity  with Allen Bradley Drive Executive Software preferred
  • This is generally a day shift position that also provides weekend relief for Maintenance Director and Managers as required
  • Electrical license is a plus
