JOB DESCRIPTIONAs part of the BD Medical-Diabetes Care Strategic Innovation Group, the Sr. Manager, Strategic Marketing will inspire, lead, and organize a high-performing 2-4 member team. Through monitoring of macroeconomic, policy, legislative, competitive, technical and clinical trends and accompanied with deep understanding of stakeholder needs and motivations, the team will identify, validate and develop strategic growth opportunities for the Diabetes Care Business Unit. The team will also incubate specific business opportunities and drive rigorous, cross-functional assessments (R&D, BDT, Marketing, Medical, Regulatory, etc.) to present objective, unbiased recommendations to the DC Innovation Council and the DC WW Leadership Team. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accountable for world-wide Strategic Innovation initiatives including: the support of BD-DC Innovation System (U.S. and Abroad); identification, development and validation of strategic growth opportunities; identification and validation of specific business opportunities that are aligned with current and future BD-DC global business objectives and prioritized Hunting Grounds.
  • Effectively select, develop, organize, and motivate, staff of highly skilled professionals.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of Strategic Innovation processes, including opportunity identification and assessment processes.
  • Maintain an overview of market trends, state-of-the-art technology development, current and emerging clinical needs. Track relevant competitor actions and develop an understanding of underlying competitor strategic intent.
  • Identify resources; develop external relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, and potential grant Investors. Attend conferences / tradeshows to surface, scout, and prioritize new, global opportunities as well as potential threats.
  • Design and deliver impactful communications to business and company leadership
  • Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Qualifications
    • MBA required focus on Marketing, Business Development, Healthcare Management or Finance, MS or PhD is preferred in a technical discipline.
    • 5 years of relevant experience in: Business development / strategic or global marketing / cross-functional product development in the healthcare industry, or Management consulting / financial services with exposure to the healthcare industry.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop deep, rigorous, analytical analysis that drives business function improvement, growth opportunity identification, strategy development or technology decision making
    • Demonstrated ability to independently identify, prioritize and successfully advocate for opportunities to drive growth or improve operating performance.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional or cross-country initiatives
    • Experience with financial models, financial analysis and market analysis required.
    • Experience in setting up, motivating and delivering results through high-performing teams.
    • Experience with cross-functional, phase-gated product development preferred
