TITLE: Regulatory Affairs Specialist
LOCATION: South Plainfield, New Jersey
Description
This positions primary responsibility is to assist in exceeding all customer needs and expectations with respect to regulatory issues for the Cosmetic Technologies Business Unit. Assists with the completion of customer’s regulatory and technical questionnaires for Cosmetic/Personal Care customers. It is responsible for initial review of customer specifications. This position is also responsible for a basic knowledge of FDA and global regulations of all colorants utilized in the Cosmetic/Personal Care industry.
Responsibilities:
• Keeps abreast of changes in regulations, including attending regulatory conferences and seminars.
• Provides product information to internal and external customers with respect to domestic and foreign regulatory requirements in the area of FDA regulations and related laws.
* Reviews customer’s specifications and determines company’s ability to comply. Communicates compliance with appropriate parties.
• Facilitates both national and international product registrations, regulatory submissions and reports. It is up to the manufacturer of the end product to register their products; Sensient regulatory is only responsible for supplying regulatory and technical documentation to aid in the customer registration process
• Designs and tracks international Cosmetic/Personal Care regulations with respect to colors.
• Audits new product set up.
• Reviews and makes necessary revisions to existing product specifications, material safety data sheets, and other standard regulatory documents, as needed before submission to internal and external customers. These changes are results of frequent regulatory issues or specific product information.
• Independently prepares documentation for new products and current events.
• Working knowledge of how to determine global chemical inventory (TSCA, AICS, IECSC, KECL, DSL/NDSL. ECL, ENCSetc.) for products.
• Continually seeks improved methods and procedures to better serve customers, internal and external, and facilitates their implementation.

Education/Skills/Experience Required:
• BA/BS in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
• Two to five years working knowledge of US regulations.
• Strong written communication skills, especially detail-oriented and technical material.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with diverse groups of people at various levels within SCI.
• Ability to meet deadlines while being flexible to changes in priorities and interruptions.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills to complete assignments accurately.
• Strong decision-making and customer service skills to offer options and resolve problems.
• Two to four years of information technology experience and computer data handling is required. Also required are advanced skills in MS Office software. Working knowledge of an AS/400 based ERP systems desirable.
