Job Description

Title: Java Middleware Developer
Location: Berkeley Heights NJ
Duration: 12 months

General Responsibilities:

Participate in designing, developing, and testing applications in multiple system environments.
Conduct software integration and external interface development. Combine multiple technologies to provide alternative physical solutions.
Determine technical requirements, develops technical user stories and software requirements specifications that serve as the build-to specification for development
Apply, as appropriate, data modeling, transaction/workflow analysis, internal control and risk analysis.
Participate in production support, maintenance and new development of the middleware systems and ESB components
Review and prepare system documents and technical specifications
Prepare reports, studies, and documentation, delivers presentations, and participates in meetings. Provide technical direction to development teams.
Interact with Application Support and coordinate any patch and code deployments with System Administration teams.
Understand the various types of tools and technologies on the market and their appropriate usage.

Skills and Knowledge:

6+ Experience with design and development of software at multiple architecture tiers with middleware focus including: shared application services, database services, security, networking, etc
6+ years of proficiency in Java and web development. Must be proficient in following: Java 1.6, Spring, HTML, Oracle 11g, JDBC, Hibernate, J2EE HTTP(S)/, SOAP/WSDL, Web Services Interoperability and Standards
3+ years of experience as a Technical Development Lead in a Service Oriented Architecture based projects
Broad knowledge of software technologies utilized in application development in the insurance field:
o 5+ years of knowledge in Spring Framework including 3.X release is mandatory
o 3+ years of knowledge in Web services and Enterprise Service Bus technologies is mandatory
o 3+ XML/ XSL/XSLT transformation is mandatory
o knowledge in Security technologies and protocols, LDAP repositories is a big plus
3+years of insurance experience is a big plus
Knowledge of architecture frameworks and architecture modeling tools and notations is a big plus.
Experience in technology product evaluation and selection, including both software and hardware technologies.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to create and deliver technical presentations to technical teams and Business partners.
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
