Intern, Energy Technologies at PLAINFIELD

Job Description

 

Alpha, a world leader in the development, manufacturing, and sales of innovative materials used in the electronic and industrial assembly process, is seeking an individual to work in their South Plainfield, NJ location for a six month period as a Co-op/Intern.  The successful candidate will work with our Vice President of Energy Technologies in conducting market analysis, technology analysis and supply chain analysis on a global basis in the Solid State Lighting market and Solar/Photovoltaics market.   

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

• Conduct market analysis, technology analysis and supply chain analysis on a global basis in the Solid State Lighting market as well as Solar/Photovoltaics market. 
• Conduct research and analyze key customers, competitors, equipment suppliers and contract manufacturers in the Solid State Lighting and Solar/Photovoltaics markets. 
• Conduct other assignments in support of the Energy Technologies business, including collation and analysis of Voice of Customer data collected. 
• Works on cross-functional team to achieve the defined goals and deliverables for assigned projects.
• Manages day-to-day progress of projects and keeps manager updated via timely and responsive communication.
• Works closely with other functions to successfully complete assigned tasks, including R & D and Sales.
• Participates in the collaboration of a wide variety of functional areas as necessary to achieve project goals. 
• Have the ability to independently work in a research area with out direct supervision given a well defined set of research goals.
• Contributes to bottom line results in high energy and change situations that require high levels of teamwork and planning, communication and implementation skills.

Job Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• The successful candidate must be a senior level student working towards a BS degree in Materials Science or equivalent field with familiarity with Solid State Lighting space, or a graduate student pursuing a degree in Materials Science Engineering or Electrical Engineering with research focus or project work in Solid State Lighting space.
