Electrical Engineer Job

Client has an IMMEDIATE NEED for Substation Protection & Control Engineer for a long term contract assignment based out of Newark, NJ. You need to have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering & 5-30+ years of experience designing the protection & control systems for HV substations & switchyards. Per diem available for candidates not local to the area.

Responsibilities for the Electrical Engineer

• Review or modify & design electrical control circuits for substations & switching stations, protective relays, miscellaneous controls, alarms, monitoring devices, transformer controls, breaker controls, SCADA, A.C power and D.C controls
• Review of controls one line diagrams & schematics for protection & controls systems for high voltage substation projects
• Work with Electrical, Civil designers and engineers, System protection, construction supervisors and field personnel
• Provide technical expertise to the Divisions and construction
• Make visits to the construction sites and check field conditions on the assigned projects as required

Requirements for the Electrical Engineer

• 5-30+ years of experience performing detailed design & engineering of substation protection & controls systems for utility switching stations and substations from 13kV to 500kV
• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Must have recent experience designing for HV substation projects for a utility or Engineering firm
• You need experience working on protection & controls projects from scratch-starting from one line controls/tripping tables, all the schematics, and wirings on top of it
• Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD is a PLUS
• Experience designing the protection & control systems for substation engineering & construction projects
• You should have specific experience with protective relay schemes for SEL and GE microprocessor relays
