Job Description
THIS IS A PROJECT POSITION:This is a Project position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities.
Note: There are multiple positions available.
This is a more senior position in Electric and Gas Asset Strategy within the Asset Management and Centralized Services organization, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. Must demonstrate strong leadership and/or supervisory skills.
Electric Technical Support:
Develop lifecycle plans and maintenance and operating standards for Inside Plant, Outside Plant, Transmission, Sub-transmission and Distribution. Define maintenance, replacement and refurbishment requirements for each asset type. Work closely with Asset Strategy to ensure designs meet intended results. Provide Technical Support services involving complex Substation and Distribution Overhead and Underground power systems to strategic customers and to all four electric delivery operating divisions. Support the extensive capital infrastructure replacement program by providing engineering and technical services, equipment technical specifications, equipment ratings, manufacturing, installation and commissioning standards for new substations. Provide expertise on the operability/condition of equipment. Witness testing on major substation equipment at major factory facilities. Support the installations and testing of new equipment in the field. Complete equipment failure analysis and define subsequent corrective action.
Job Requirements
B.S in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or technical experience
Five to eight years of electrical utility experience and knowledge of electrical substations and switching stations equipment, e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, medium voltage switchgear, regulators, capacitor banks, disconnect switches and associated electrical system for switching and substations and or outside plant electric distribution and/or transmission systems.
Applicant must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and be results-oriented.
Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills are essential.
On call 24/7 hours to handle emergency replacement work and assist during system emergency situation.
Must have a valid drivers license

Desired:
Advanced degree or technical training, P.E license.
Familiarity with utility best practices, IEEE, ASME, NESC and NEMA Standards.
Candidate requires knowledge of company or other industry engineering and design standards.
Experience in working on electrical layout, one line control, controls schematics for protective relays, alarms, auxiliary power, SCADA and metering circuits in order to effectively support projects.
Experience with modern protective equipment such as microprocessor relays, substation data concentrators, digital fault recorders, etc.
