Position Overview:
This position is located in Princeton, New Jersey, reporting at the site to the Vice-President, Head of Intellectual Property for the United States. The position may include managing direct reports including patent attorneys, scientific advisors, paralegals and/or administrative staff.

This position is a key member of Sandozs IP team, providing strategic legal and business insight to senior management, driving corporate objectives and growth, and managing our top talent.

The ideal candidate has proven excellent leadership and communication skills, extensive experience with the Hatch-Waxman amendments to the Food & Drug Cosmetic Act, litigation experience in ANDA cases, demonstrated business acumen in a pharmaceutical company in a management role, proven ability to proactively provide insightful and timely legal advice to stakeholders across the organization, and the ability to successfully interface with senior leadership and external partners, as well as other members of the Legal & IP Department.

Responsibilities:
Expert counsel on Hatch-Waxman and related patent, regulatory, exclusivity and forfeiture issues, including developing innovative strategies on same to maximize growth.
Evaluate and assess impact of competitive space on launches from an IP perspective.
Supervise, execute and manage the Companys product launches from an IP perspective, including driving product launch strategies and partnering with key internal stakeholders on same.
Evaluate and address third-party IP rights and advise senior management on the implications of such rights, including analyzing the validity of competitors patents and the Companys potential infringement thereof while maximizing our position.
Establish strong cross-functional relationships with internal partner teams driving product launch and optimization strategies, and assess and counsel the Company of associated risks.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

Demonstrated successful track record in evaluating and assessing complex Intellectual Property launch strategies.
A Juris Doctor from a recognized, accredited U.S. law school and licensed to practice in at least one state or the District of Columbia with the ability to be licensed as an in-house counsel in New Jersey.
A minimum of 7 years prior industry and law firm experience managing increasingly complex product launches, and preferably including management of some ANDA litigations and Hatch Waxman issues.
Deep expertise in scientific and technology matters.
Demonstrated client service orientation, recognizing and responding quickly, clearly and pragmatically to urgent situations and demanding clients.
