Category Manager at Cherry Hill

Job Description

Position Summary:

Acting on own initiative, the Category Manager supports sales and assigned customers with consumer analysis/insights, thought leadership, and innovative reporting solutions. Develop persuasive selling presentations using consumer research tools/data to increase/protect distribution, space and display efforts. The qualified candidate will understand in detail how Category Management tools work tactically to support DFV Wines and assigned customers strategic direction. In representing the state of the business and organization, the position requires good judgment in acceptable uses of information.

Duties/Essential Job Functions(E)

Develops strong partnerships with account managers and customers to effectively communicate insights that translate into measureable resultsCollaborates with Marketing and Finance to align goals, priorities, and communications with field salesUses analytics and insights to achieve sales goals with focus on product assortment, merchandising, shelving, promotion, and pricingAssess trends and identify key customer opportunities consistent with overall company strategies and brand marketing plans
  • Develops fact based presentations for field sales to support new items, address competitive situations, enhance merchandising effectiveness, and improve shelving
  • Cultivates a reputation as a leader in category management by establishing strategic partnerships through demonstration of category and consumer expertiseContinually improves category management tools, methods, and reporting systemsProvides input in the development of organizational category management strategyVisits customers as needed and assist in conducting store audits

    Job Requirements

    Education: Bachelors degree, preferably in market research. Strong statistics background a plus

    Experience: 3 to 5 years of significant business analysis experience required, with a focus on Category Management practices.

    Knowledge: Fluent in Nielsen/IRI scan data analytics, developing and supporting sales presentations, marketing claims, and brand performance. Familiarity with wine industry consumer and channel data, BDN, and depletion reporting. A high degree of experience with various assortment tools (Space Planner, Apollo, Spaceman). Expert computer skills are required; strength in Excel, PowerPoint, OLAP, Multi-dimensional tables, and ability to report, graph and present complex information. Excellent communication skills, analytical skills and proven problem-solving ability. Aptitude for computer systems, especially related to data management.
