Modis is seeking an Enterprise Storage Operations Senior Engineer that will build, operate and support enterprise storage platforms including storage arrays, NAS, HBAs, tape drives/libraries, storage tools, fiber channel switches and backup software. You will help ensure overall availability, reliability and performance of managed systems to meet or exceed defined service levels.

Your responsibilities will include Enterprise Storage Operations (50%), Support (40%) and environment evolution (10%) including:

Physical volume management of SAN-based arrays, multi-ported arrays, and mid-size to large storage arrays.

Acquire, install, and allocate physical storage and volumes to servers.

Plan implementation of storage devices

Work with host groups to implement storage and backup systems.

Code upgrades for storage infrastructure

Coordinate/Perform Bin file loads

Complex backup and restore requests

Troubleshoot, maintain, and support of SANs, SAN-based arrays, multi-ported arrays, mid-size to large storage arrays, and backup environments.

Work with host teams to resolve connectivity and performance issues.

Array debugging with vendors

Take Ownership of Problems/Issues/Defects Ticket until Resolution.

Provide Root cause Analysis as per SLA.

Rotational off hours on-call support for critical issues.

Develop automation, tools and other process efficiencies

Assist with continual improvement of service delivery, operational practices and support services

Required skills and experience:

2 Year College Degree required, 4 year degree preferred

3+ years experience required, 5+ preferred

Systems Operations and/or Engineering experience within e-commerce or financial services industry

3+ years storage management

Working knowledge and experience with multiple storage technologies Hardware (EMC and IBM), Configuration Tools (EMC Control Center, IBM XIV GUI, Tivoli.), Volume Management Tools (Veritas Volume Manager, EMC PowerPath), Tape Archival (Veritas Netbackup, Avamar, Data Domain) and geographic data replication technologies.

Experience with SAN Switching Fabrics / protocols: Cisco, Fiber Channel, and Fiber Channel over Internet Protocol (FCIP), iSCSI, FICON.

Experience working in mid to large scale storage environments of 500TB+.

Experience with Replication technologies which includes SRDF/A, IBM Async and Recover point

Vendor certifications in storage related solutions desired.

Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes.

Ability to establish and define automated system installation/configuration procedures.

Ability to create System Run Books, defining day-to-day support, maintenance, troubleshooting knowledge-base of the infrastructure.

Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply them towards the investigation of existing installations.

Ability to establish performance models and validation techniques.

Ability to establish best practices for monitoring and forecasting of system/application capacity.
