LAN Support Technician at Florham Park

Job Description

Responsibilities: Our client is seeking a LAN Support Technician for their Florham Park, New Jersey (NJ) location.Key Responsibilities:The successful applicant will have strong technical skills and experience of working in an IT support role. The applicant will be required to provide desktop PC support for SBS associates. This will include onsite technical support for wide range of subject matters such as PC building, maintenance and troubleshooting, Office application help, software installations. Assist end users with 1st, 2nd or 3rd line support and to track technical support requests. Liaise with the UK Tech Support organization.

Job Requirements

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows XP/Win7/Win8, Windows Server 2000/2003/2008/2012
  • Microsoft Applications - Office suites including Outlook, Word, OneNote, Visio etc.
  • SharePoint experience would be beneficial
  • SCCM, WSUS experience of MS fixes and patches distribution
  • Base skills in virtualization technologies to include Hyper-V/Virtual Server, to administer the physical host and virtual guests
  • Good Browser configuration knowledge
  • PC Building skills
  • Maintenance of IT equipment (upgrading machines)
Education and Experience:
  • 3-5 years experience in hands-on IT help desk with either a BS/BA in related field or AS/AA from a tech institute plus MCSE, CCNA, or CompTIA+
  • An acceptable combination of the above
Network:
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic networking problems
  • Understanding of IP addressing, tracing tools, IP subnets, DNS and Wins
  • Understanding of Routers and Firewalls
General:
  • Helpdesk experience of raising and completing tickets
  • Hardware installation/troubleshooting
  • Printers - local & network - administer and troubleshoot
  • Browser troubleshoot - IE versions/Firefox/Chrome/Safari
  • Software licensing
  • Apple devices & IOS support
  • Telephony equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
  • VPN/SecurID experience
  • Generalized understanding of database technology
  • Knowledge of SQL Server is desirable, but not required
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing subject matter
  • Comfortable dealing face to face with technical problems as well as by phone and email
  • Passionate, committed and confident in finding root causes of problems
  • Self-starter, can take direction and execute it effectively with a "can do" attitude
  • Must be able to work extra hours when required (for priority 1 issues mainly or with offshore team)
  • Good communication skills
  • Happy to work as a team or individual depending on tasks presented
  • Able to manage priorities based on bus
