Senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer

A well-recognized A&E company, is looking to hire a design professional to join our engineering staff.  Our engineering department is currently seeking a Senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer with 7-10 years experience designing HVAC systems for the public and private sectors.  The ideal candidate shall have the following qualifications:

Prerequisites

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
• Valid New Jersey drivers license and a registered and insured vehicle
• Ability to perform field work (i.e. climb portable and building ladders up to 30 feet)

• Understanding of construction methods and means
• Ability to assess building mechanical deficiencies and recommend an approach for corrective action
• Desire to learn about building systems and how to reduce operating costs
• LEED Accreditation

Requirements

• Minimum of 7-10 years design experience of HVAC systems including:
• Layout & design of various types of air distribution systems with associated duct static pressure loss calculations.
• Design of various hydronic and steam systems including head loss calculations
• Working knowledge of the psychrometric chart
• In-depth understanding of boiler and chilled water plants
• General knowledge of various HVAC systems and associated equipment
• Working knowledge of control system
• Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and meet client deadlines
• Minimum of 5 years working knowledge with Trane Trace 700 (building load program)
• Strong understanding of the International Mechanical Code and ASHRAE Standards
• Experience performing field survey work in support of design drawings and as-built drawing development
• Must have experience in mechanical drafting practices
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong computer skills including proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Enjoys working in a positive team environment and who feels confident when speaking to clients
