BD - Medical Surgical Systems has an exciting new opportunity; please read on for more information about this opportunity and how to join the Team.Within BD Medical Surgical Systems (MSS) Research & Development, the associate in this position will have a unique opportunity to be part of a newproduct platform.This new platformProduct Engineering team is seeking a highly talented and passionate individual to help the team identify innovative solutions to address current and future health care needs in the Pharmacy and Nursing markets. The associate will contribute to the product design, development and commercialization of medical device products that improve drug delivery.This position will join the Product Engineering team and lead or contribute to design and development activities focused on identifying, developing and implementing solutions to support the current product portfolio. More specifically your responsibilities will be to:

• Supportdesign and development activities for products within the current portfolio offerings.
• Support current products in terms of quality, manufacturing, supply continuity and cost improvement.
• Participate in executing technical and/or cross-functional project work.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts to improve current product performance orenhance current products ability to address customer needs.

Job Requirements

This important position requires the following qualifications:

• Minimum of3 years experience as a product design / development engineer in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries (experience with FDA class II or III medical devices preferred);
• MS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or closely related disciplines;
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or other equivalent 3-D CAD modeling software and familiarity with drawing standards;
• Proficiency in tolerance stack-up analysis involving multiple components;
• Experience with designing for high-volume manufacturing methods such as molding and stamping, and automated assembly and packaging processes;
• Experience with implementingproduct changes through a structured, phase-gated, product development process;
• Demonstrated experience with all phases of the Design Control process;
• Demonstrated understanding of product development considerations for tightly controlled, high-volume manufacturing processes;
• Goodunderstanding of product development considerations for tightly controlled, high-volume manufacturing process (demonstrated understanding ofvalidation including FAI/FAT, development and IQ/OQ/PQ preferred);
• Basicunderstanding of the requirements management process (demonstratedexperience in design verification strategy and implementation preferred);
• Demonstrated capability in working with a cross-functional team (experience in a technical leadership role on a cross-functional team preferred);
• Good understanding of medical device product development risk management methodologies;
• Familiaritywith design optimization for multi-component mechanical assemblies or systems involving injection molded and compression molded components (proficiency with some specific tools/methodologiessuch as FEAorSix-Sigmapreferred);
• Proficiency with fixture design including basic machining considerations (good understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Software & Development (e.g. Labview) preferred);
• Proficiency with statistical techniques;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent project planning software;
• Basic understanding of IP considerations;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate (verbal & written) concepts; and
• Basic understanding of business / finance concepts (e.g. payback, rate of return, cashflow, income statement, etc).
