Job Description

ETS Research & Development has openings for psychometricians at the junior through senior-level in the Statistical Analysis, Data Analysis & Psychometric Research Unit in our Princeton, NJ and San Francisco, CA offices. These positions offer exciting opportunities for researchers interested in contributing to testing programs used to help make high-stakes decisions within the K-12, admissions, English Language Learning, licensing/certification markets and management opportunities. Our psychometricians collaborate on assessment designs, plan, coordinate, conduct, and report on statistical analyses. They also are encouraged to participate in applied research studies intended for professional presentation and publication. REQUIREMENTS FOR A JUNIOR LEVEL POSITION A Ph.D.in educational measurement, statistics, quantitative or cognitive psychology, biometrics or a closely related quantitative field is required. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in educational measurement, applied statistics, or teaching. Experience may be gained through doctoral studies. REQUIREMENTS FOR A MID-LEVEL POSITION A Ph.D. in educational measurement, statistics, quantitative or cognitive psychology, biometrics, or a closely related quantitative field with at least three years of experience in an applied measurement or academic/statistical analysis environment is required. This position requires initiative, creativity, research skills and technical expertise. REQUIREMENTS FOR A SENIOR-LEVEL POSITION A Ph.D. in educational measurement, statistics, quantitative or cognitive psychology, biometrics, or a closely related quantitative field with at least six years of experience in an applied measurement or statistical analysis environment is required. This position requires initiative, creativity, advanced research skills and technical expertise. Senior-level staff engage in exploratory and applied research and methods and provide operational and strategic technical guidance on the use of current and emerging technology, innovations and research.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications are required at all job levels. Experience designing and conducting psychometric analyses in support of testing programs. Proven ability to analyze, research, and propose solutions to current and future measurement problems, and to communicate those solutions effectively. Expertise with classical test theory, equating, and item response theory is required, as is experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, BILOG, LOGIST, WINSTEPS, and/or PARSCALE). Facility in communicating to varied audiences in verbal and written communications. Ability to lead design and analysis projects, cross-functional teams, and quantitative research studies.
