Process Engineer at Burlington

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer with a background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.  American Custom Drying has been around for more than 50 years and provides contract manufacturing services. We specialize in custom spray drying for both the food and chemical industries, including market trials, pilot runs and full production campaigns and powder blending by contract.

The Process Engineer’s primary role is to work with both customers and the Production Manager to ensure products are processed at targeted rates without compromising quality.  This includes working with customers on product trials, identifying processing issues and developing solutions, and scaling up new products from the pilot stage to full scale production. The Process Engineer will also apply technical knowledge and expertise to review current manufacturing procedures and plan cost effective/ efficient solutions to process challenges. 

Essential Job Functions

• Continually optimize production processes to speed up changeover and production times.
• Provide research and development knowledge on new product trials.
• Provide scale up knowledge in the event a product increases production to full scale.
• Provide customer support for both pilot and full scale production.
• Determine the feasibility and safety concerns in respect to running new products.
• Continually analyze data to identify processing challenges and solutions.
• Work closely with Maintenance on capital projects from concept to implementation.
• Liaise with sales in customer meetings to provide technical knowledge.

Job Requirements

What you need for this position

• Bachelors degree required. A B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry desired.
• Experience in Spray Drying and Process Manufacturing desired.
• Exceptional organization and communication skills.
