This position will be responsible for creating a process management function of the Verizon Lean Six Sigma (VLSS) Finance Team. Position will drive planning, tracking, reporting and organization of projects and resources associated with the program. Involves working cross functionally with other Business Units including Verizon Wireless, Consumer and Mass Business, Verizon Enterprise Services and IT for all areas of Verizon. Will support VLSS Finance organization including B2C, A2R, FP&A, and "Other Finance" functions, as well as Finance Transformation efforts. Team currently includes 1 VP, 5 Directors/Master Black Belts and 34 Black Belts.Responsibilities:
• Manage the complex and interrelated Finance VLSS and Transformation processes, to ensure focus on the critical projects in the Finance Transformation initiative. Prioritize initiatives for both VLSS and Finance Transformation and determine required resource allocations.
• Drive AP, Tax, Treasury, Payroll with Finance Transformation efforts including PMOing various initiatives, seeking external best practices and determining and facilitating appropriate VLSS solutions (workout, DMAIC, DFSS)
• Analyze and review Finance Transformation objectives and propose VLSS projects to attain them.
• Design and create financial business cases for VLSS projects and review and analyze different financial modeling scenarios to make recommendation to management on accepting and rejecting various projects for driving Finance Transformation.
• Lead stakeholder meetings to ensure full access to information by all the parties and follow through on action items.
• Find creative solutions leading to the resolution of a wide range of complex project problems resulting in successful project outcomes.
• Collaborate with Global Process owners concerning business case requirements, context, prioritization and execution of business cases for VLSS projects
• Lead Finance Transformation savings calculation and tracking including link with VLSS savings. Review and validate savings calculations provided by other teams.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships across the VLSS Finance teams and Global Process owners to drive project completion resulting in attaining savings/benefits targets. Communicate effectively with VLSS teams and process owners to facilitate the complete and tracking of VLSS and Finance Transformation initiatives.
• Drive cultural shift to VLSS philosophy through enhanced communications within VLSS team and throughout entire Finance community.
• Design and create content for VLSS communications ranging from the promotion of VLSS within Finance organization via eweb, maintaining current versions of documents and files on Sharepoint to relaying information to various Black Belt waves/weeks
• Manage web support for VLSS portion of Finance site to include creating and uploading content, coordinating responses, etc
• Determine number of ongoing black belts needed to support Finance projects. Lead internal recruiting efforts for these BBs.
• Screen potential future BBs to ensure they are high potential and make recommendations to leadership.
• Ensure VLSS senior leader Champions, MBBs, BBs receive training as required for driving and managing VLSS projects.
• Design and prepare VLSS and Finance Transformation presentations
• Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives as part of VLSS and Finance Transformation.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years in Finance areas such as Financial Operations, Accounting, or Financial Planning and Analysis.
• Project Management experience & strong organizational skills.
• Strong verbal, written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through working cross functionally at all levels including VP.
• Self-motivated, driven and able to exercise sound judgment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
• Strong working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office suite of products, web skills.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma methods desired but not required.
