Business Intelligence Architect Administrator

Title: Business Intelligence Architect Administrator Location: Parsippany NJDuration: 3-6months35 hours /week The role of the Business Intelligence Architect/Administrator is to: 
  • develop architectural objects in the BI tool that supports reporting requirements and delivers high-performance reporting.
  • serve as mentor and subject matter expert to report developers with respect to the BI tool’s capabilities and limits.
  • support and monitor the entire Business Intelligence environment with a focus on scheduled jobs and report execution performance, system growth and upgrades,
  • manage the security of the environment as it relates to users, groups, objects and row-level security
  • manage connectivity to required data sources
  • manage version control of all objects
  • set and enforce standards for object creation and maintenance as well as enforce corporate standards
  • troubleshoot any issue
A broad understanding of the each business organization’s vision is needed in order to support future expectations and to provide pro-active added-value.The position will work with database management software and figure out ways to store, analyze, utilize and present data. They also must know the platform on which the database runs so that performance enhancements can be identified and implemented. The Business Intelligence Architect/Administrator demands an individual who is highly creative, a critical thinker and an ability to take complex situations or problems and translate into a solution that drives efficiency, self service and a high level of business insight.  The Business Intelligence Architect/Administrator will work closely with Report Developers as well as ETL and data architects to support a service based, centralized solution that correlates multiple KPI’s and exposes corporate information through a single point of access. Responsibility:
  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs, including architectural objects needed for reporting
  • Develop configuration objects associated with BI tool connectivity, security and functionality.  Develop and deploy customizations as required
  • Administer the migration of BI objects across environments
  • Pro-actively monitor the system for performance improvements and implement those improvements (coordinating the work of others, as needed)
  • Produce and foster administrative guidelines and standards to ensure a manageable and consistent infrastructure for the BI system and an easy-to-navigate user experience
  • Support Report Developers by providing tool-specific expertise and consultation
  • Troubleshoot all server-level BI tool issues as well as those issues identified through end-user interfaces; performance-tune these applications as necessary
 
  • Act as evangelist for BI benefits across the organization; promote BI usage to relevant departments
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
  • Identify areas of opportunity for automation that eliminate manual steps and independently propose alternative process improvements, enhancements or additional products.  Implement those improvements.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • BS degree required. Masters Degree in Business Administration or other advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry
  • Leadership experience and expertise in business intelligence; ability to synthesize disparate and complex sources of information and create value-added insight and perspective
  • Strategic thinker with high-level understanding of trends and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrate high intellectual energy and curiosity.
  • Ability to think strategically in real time, adapting to changes in the industry and the organization; flexible and nimble
  • Familiar with design of data warehouse data architecture techniques (ODS, EDW, DM, ROLAP, MOLAP).

  • 7+ years of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence design and development experience
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server and SSIS
  • 5+ years MicroStrategy Administrative tools and Architecture and/or OBIEE and/or other major BI product
  • SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL proficiency required
  • Familiarity with data modeling tools such as ErWin required
  • Informatica knowledge a plus
