Sales Executive - Food Laboratory - CTS Job at Fairfield


Primary Responsibilities
The Food Sales Executive is responsible for working closely with the Food Laboratory management, International Sales Executives and Customer Service teams to build long-term customer relationships, generate aggressive revenue growth through sales of laboratory services, and grow new and profitable business opportunities.
SGS is the worlds largest inspection, testing, certification, and verification company. Within the Food sector, we provide valuable supply chain risk management services through a network of global laboratories and field operations in over 80 countries. These services include testing for microbiological, chemical, and physical specifications as well as product inspection, and farm to factory audits and certification.

Reporting to
Consumer Testing Services

Specific responsibilities
1. Create, communicate, and execute account sales plans for new customer accounts.
2. Develop sustainable relationships between SGS and customer accounts.
3. Manage and coordinate relationships will all stakeholders at each key account to ensure successful close of sales objectives.
4. Negotiate sales agreements to meet or exceed sales and gross margin objectives of Food Laboratory services division.
5. Develop sufficient technical understanding of SGSs Food Laboratory equipment, test procedures, industry standards, and government regulations to adequately communicate our portfolio to prospective customers.
6. Drive, develop, and manage all account-focused activities for assigned accounts.
7. Identify and win new customers by phone, internet, and customer site visits - leveraging industry contacts, networking, and SGS internal referrals.
8. Maintain current database of all assigned customers for timely, clear, and concise understanding by SGS management.
9. Support and participate in SGSs presence at industry tradeshows and conferences when appropriate.
10. Identify and pursue sales leads for testing services from contract laboratories, food testing laboratories, food manufacturing industries, and other industry related sectors.
11. Communicate effectively with the Food Laboratory management team and Customer Services group, and other management with on-going customer relationships to manage resolution of customer issues related to service execution, service quality, and account receivables.
12. Leverage corporate resources to develop sales and marketing approaches, materials, proposals, and cross-functional teaming arrangements.

Profile
1. A Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, Food Microbiology, or equivalent is required.
2. A minimum of 4-5 years of successful and relevant sales experience in food safety, chemistry or microbiological service industries, quality assurance/control, or other consulting related industries.
3. Has shown success in a sales role in which leads are self-developed and/or an inside sales role where lead generation and qualification were key responsibilities.
4. Must be hands-on, creative, proactive team player with strong persuasive and diplomatic skills.

Skills
1. Ability to establish effective working and team relationships with internal and external food industry professionals.
2. Experience in developing value propositions, forecasting methods, market and revenue analysis, and return on investment.
3. Must be a fast learner, able to work on own, and deliver solid business growth and sales results.
4. Ability to manage difficult client/customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs, solicit customer feedback to improve service, respond to requests for service/assistance, and meet commitments.
5. Demonstrated professional sales behavior including time management, lead management, and customer-focused collaboration.
6. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in the course of trade show & conference preparation and attendance, or travel related duties
7. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point to demonstrate complex and integrated files for client Requests for Proposals, and presentations
