- Schedule and make patient visits and telephone calls as directed.
- Provide education to patients and their families with oxygen CPAP, BIPAP and other respiratory equipment for complex respiratory diagnoses.
- Research, design and provide respiratory information to patients, caregivers and physicians.
- Serve as liaison between patient and other members of the Health Care team, when required.
- Perform testing and preventive maintenance on respiratory equipment in patients’ residence to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
- Instruct patients, caregivers, physicians and physician’s staff on the proper use of respiratory equipment and necessary cleaning requirements.
- Deliver/pick-up equipment and/or supplies to patients’ home as necessary.
- Complete progress reports, necessary billing information and submit in a timely manner.
- Contact physician and/or appropriate health care team member regarding orders, complications and recommendations. Evaluate respiratory equipment home use.
- Expected to answer any page within one hour or less, and physically respond to emergencies within the assigned service area within one hour.
- Complete patient files and paperwork as per current policies.
- Maintain continuing education/in service, off site training and /or independent study as per policy and procedures.
- Compile reports, collect data and report to hospital as requested.
- Keep up to date with all current disease management care and interventions.
- Assist other staff and perform other duties as assigned by management
Prior experience in Home Respiratory Therapy is preferred. RRT, RCP, CRTT, RN, LPN or eligible and meeting the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or Nursing requirements. MUST HAVE Valid NJ state(s) Respiratory Care license. Bi-Lingual a PLUS. Valid Driver’s License.
Must possess good people skills and be able to speak to large group, with the ability to collect data and report appropriately to hospitals. Display an understanding of disease processes with basic knowledge related to nutrition, exercise and techniques to help lessen shortness of breath. Must have good teaching skills with the ability to follow up. Must be detailed-oriented, organized, and neat in person and habits. Ability to work independently is a must.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this, the employee is frequently exposed to cleaning product fumes and dust, and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
