Job Description
Job Summary:Prescribes individual and/or group lessons designed to assist students in overcoming specific difficulties in mathematics and reading. Provides instruction to students enrolled in GED. Conducts and manages academic classes. This position is a Full Time position and is not distinguished from an Academic Instructor except that the instructor will be expected, unless otherwise assigned, to work on a full time basis with student enrolled in GED.
Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, groups of managers, students and write reports.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possession of teaching certificate in State of New Jersey. Valid State Drivers License
Job Requirements
Duties:
- Performs as an instructor, as needed in a in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in the area of GED Math and Reading.
- Endeavors to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting, ensuring maximum student motivation; and maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom in order to ensure maximum learning.
- Will work directly with the Career Technical Training (CTT) Instructors in coordinating curriculum development as well as utilize all curricular resources available on campus.
- Maintains students’ personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, incident reports, achievement awards, and any other pertinent information concerning students in the school’s computer information system.
- Participates in evaluation of student progress in evaluating student employability skills.
- Works toward meeting performance management goals and assists with preparing students for GED Pre-Testing and preparing for Official GED testing
- Complies with all DOL and Center policies and guidelines.
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices
- Models, mentors, monitors appropriate SCANS and Career Success Standards
