DIGITAL CONTENT EDITOR at Cherry Hill

Job Description

The Senior Digital Editor is the Information Centers digital strategist. This editor will create a daily engagement plan and a long-range engagement plan for the four platforms: newspaper, desktop, mobile and tablet. The plans will give prominence to the passion topics. The Senior Digital Editor will stay abreast of current usability studies and trends on all platforms. They will use this information in combination with local analytics to formulate the engagement plans while highlighting passion topics. The Senior Digital Editor will meet with the Senior Content Editors to brainstorm new and effective ways to cover passion topics. The editor will oversee the workflow of the distribution of news across the four platforms which include digital producers, copy editors, night editor, photo staff and the community conversation editor. The editor will regularly meet with the digital producers and editors to discuss workflow, audiences and passion topics. This editor will have a rich understanding of analytics, usability studies, audience analysis and will bring this knowledge to the table during decision-making processes.

Other duties include:
Implement and manage long-range digital projects
Works one-on-one with Night Editor in workflow solutions
Works one-on-one with Community Conversation Editor to engage community on social media
Manage vacation schedules
Provides opportunities for training
Manages staffing concerns, i.e. hiring, overtime, vacation schedules, accident reports
Works with Digital Producers on news judgment, headline writing, marketing the Courier-Post
Participates in listening sessions
Assists in the management of the long-range (Google Doc) planning budget
Implement new digital engagement software, tools
Maintain, update architecture of desktop, mobile and tablet.

Successful candidates will have a bachelors degree in Journalism or Digital Media with Web development skills a must. Must be familiar with SEO and Adobe Creative Suite and have mastery of social media. Previous experience in HTML and CSS; CMS. Individuals must be able to type, use a computer and be able to read, write and speak English.
