JOB DESCRIPTION
Systems Support Administrator- 3rd Shift (11pm-7am)


Position Overview:

Under supervision of the Computer Operations Manager, performs tasks of a general nature to aid in the ongoing support of various systems environments in the Corporate Data Center.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

Enters commands on systems such as PC,Windows serversand IBM iSeries. Operates peripheral equipment such as tape drives, printers in a data center environment.

Loads peripheral equipment with selected materials such as labels, checks, printer paper and media tapes for operating runs.

Monitors disk utilization of all iSeries and Windows servers on a daily basis.

Monitors High Availability (HA) environment for iSeries (Vision Solutions Orion) and Windows (NSI Doubletake).

Performs functional iSeries tasks on multiple systems and partitions using 5250 console and multiple HMC consoles.

Enters commands on systems to run system processing for business operations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Adds, deletes and modifies user accounts/profiles and passwords.

Observes Data Center equipment and systems for error messages and processing errors.

Troubleshoots problems and takes appropriate actions to rectify problem while notifying affected personnel, including manager.

Performs rotational backups (Daily, weekly, monthly,yearly & special) of primary iSeries, and Windows Servers.

Documents problems and maintains data center Operations Run Bookin a Lotus Notes environment.

Answers telephone calls to assist computer users with questions and problems.

Administers the Help Desk Support system and forwards requests accordingly.

Classifies catalogues and maintains tape libraries for all systems.

Applies system updates and upgrades under managers guidance.

Participates in annual Disaster Recovery test.

Administration of IBM Blade Center configured as Windows 2003 server.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

One year certificate from college or technical school and 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. B.S. in Computer Science or related field, (or pursuing) preferred.

Experience with AS/400 iSeries Operations is mandatory, experience with multiple iSeries systems in an HA environment is preferred.

Knowledge of Windows based PC and server operations is required.

Working knowledge of MS Office 2003 2007, specifically MS Word and MS Excelare required.

Working knowledge of a Lotus Notes is preferred.

Interpersonal skills necessary to provide a level of support to IT staff and end users including the ability to accurately describe system problems and or failures.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as follow instructions.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Demands also include working additional hours, including weekends and holidays with little or no notice.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
